The accessibility scanner for what the other scanners skip.

Most accessibility tools stop at HTML: alt tags, contrast, ARIA. LuxAbility opens what they never do — your videos, audio, PDFs, and Office documents — and quantifies your WCAG 2.1 media and document debt in remediation units. The report is your punch list.

The gap your current scanner ignores

Your scanner gave you a green checkmark. It checked the HTML — the easy part. The rest of your exposure lives in the media layer: uncaptioned video, untagged PDFs, inaccessible documents. That's content HTML scanners never open — and it's exactly the content showing up in ADA litigation and EAA enforcement.

Behind every uncaptioned video is someone who can't use your content. The law is just the deadline.

Even the standards body doesn't score clean

59/100

We scanned W3.org — the organization that writes the accessibility standard. On 25 pages: 35 assets, 6 scored findings — an uncaptioned video, an untagged PDF — plus 334 code-baseline flags. If the authors of the rulebook score a 59, what does your site score?

Scanned · ruleset v0.17.0 · same input, same score

How it works

  1. We crawl your public surface and inventory every media and document asset we can reach.

  2. Deterministic rules score each asset against WCAG 2.1 — verified facts, heuristics, and third-party embeds clearly separated. No AI guessing: same input, same score, every run. A record your counsel can review.

  3. You get a scored report with an ordered punch list — the exact assets, the issues, the fix order, sized in remediation units.

Why now

Under ADA Title II, state and local governments and public educational institutions serving populations of 50,000 or more must comply by April 26, 2027; smaller public entities and special district governments by April 26, 2028 (Federal Register, 2026-07663). WCAG 2.1 Level AA remains the required standard — and it covers the videos, PDFs and documents a city, county, school district or university posts, not just its HTML. 'Our HTML scanner said we were fine' is not a legal defense.

In the EU, the European Accessibility Act is already in force for consumer-facing digital products and services.

Daniel Oceno, founder

I've spent more than twenty years in IT and software, and the last stretch building deterministic scanners: tools that produce the same score from the same input, every run, against a versioned rubric. SecGate and ApiGate do it for security and API surface; they're public on npm and you can read the output yourself. LuxAbility applies the same method to the part of accessibility that HTML scanners never open — the video, the audio, the PDFs. I built it because that's where the barrier actually is, and because a number you can't reproduce isn't evidence.

Media Accessibility Audit

$750 launch price (first 5 audits), then $1,200

1 domain, up to 200 crawled pages. Media and documents only — not a full WCAG audit.

Every audit includes

  • Scored report and ordered punch list
  • 1 re-scan within 30 days
  • 1 walkthrough call of the findings, up to 60 minutes
  • Typical turnaround: 5–7 business days

We run the scan first. You pay when you get the report.

Multi-domain or government-wide scopes are quoted separately (from $2,500). Book 15 minutes with the founder.

Request an audit

Tell us the domain and we'll come back with what we found and what it costs to fix.

The site you want scanned. No https:// needed.

Most people don't know. We confirm it during the inventory.

We'll reply within two business days. Prefer email? [email protected] — or book 15 minutes and we'll count your surface on the call, free.

Questions ADA coordinators and IT teams ask us

How is the audit scoped?

Per domain, not per asset: one domain, up to 200 crawled pages. Almost nobody knows how much video and how many documents they host, which is why the inventory is the first phase of every audit. Want a rough count first? Book 15 minutes and we'll run a quick count of your public surface on the call, free.

What exactly does LuxAbility scan?

The content layer your HTML scanner skips: video, audio, PDFs, Office documents, and image alt text on your public surface. We crawl what's reachable, inventory every asset, and score each one against WCAG 2.1. The report also includes an unscored code-baseline check of the HTML basics (page language, titles, form labels, link names) your dev team can act on directly.

How is this different from axe, WAVE, or Siteimprove?

Those tools evaluate your rendered HTML — contrast, ARIA, keyboard behavior — and they're good at it. But they never open your videos or documents, and they don't price the fix. LuxAbility is built for that content layer, quantified in billable units, plus a static-HTML baseline (language, titles, labels, link names) so one report answers the whole question. We're complementary to your existing scanner, not a replacement.

Is this an automated scan or a manual audit?

Automated and deterministic — same input, same score, every run, against a versioned rule set. Unlike a manual audit, it's reproducible and repeatable; unlike typical scanners, it opens the media layer. The report clearly separates verified facts from heuristics, so you know exactly what each finding is based on.

What do you check each asset for?

Videos: captions, transcripts, audio descriptions, sign-language versions. Audio: transcripts. PDFs: tagging, text layer (image-only scans), title, document language, image alt text, table headers. Office documents: image alt text, PPTX slide titles, DOCX document language; files we can't analyze are flagged for manual review. Page images: alt text presence and quality signals. Third-party embeds are inventoried and flagged separately. We verify presence and structural conformance — whether captions exist and are properly delivered — not caption accuracy. Accuracy review is human work; see 'Do you fix the issues too?'

What's a "remediation unit"?

A sizing measure for the work needed to fix a finding — so the punch list reads like a project plan, not a pile of errors. Your team, agency, or vendor can scope and budget remediation directly from the report.

If we score high, are we legally compliant?

No tool can promise that, and you should distrust any that does. LuxAbility gives you a defensible technical record: what was checked, against which rules, with which result. It's evidence for your compliance posture — your counsel makes the legal call.

Do you fix the issues too?

The audit is the diagnosis, not the surgery. You get an ordered punch list your existing team or vendor can execute. For captioning and PDF remediation we can point you to specialized providers.

Do you need credentials or access to our systems?

No. We scan only your publicly reachable surface — same view an auditor, a litigant, or a procurement reviewer has. Nothing to install, no credentials to share.

What happens after the audit?

You fix, we verify: every audit includes one re-scan within 30 days that shows exactly what moved, and a walkthrough call of the findings.
